Travel has always been more than just a getaway for me—it’s been a source of renewal, joy, and even financial opportunity. As a teacher, my income is fixed, so finding a way to create an additional income stream without sacrificing the job I love has been life-changing. With six trips to Cabo under my belt (and a seventh this December) and Jamaica booked for late May when school gets out, I’ve discovered how travel not only transforms the body and mind but also opens doors to financial freedom.
This Wellness Wednesday, let’s explore the incredible ways travel, especially in community, nurtures the Four Pillars of Wellness: physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial.
Physical Renewal in God’s Creation
Every destination tells a story of God’s handiwork. From the serene beaches of Cabo to the vibrant beauty of Jamaica, I’m reminded of Psalm 19:1:
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
Travel keeps us moving—whether snorkeling in turquoise waters, exploring hidden trails, or simply soaking up the sun. These activities strengthen our bodies and help us stay energized and engaged in healthy choices. Travel truly is wellness in action!
Emotional Wellness: Anticipation and Connection
One of the best emotional benefits of travel is having something to look forward to. Data shows that simply having a trip on the calendar boosts happiness and mental wellness. I’ve experienced this firsthand. Knowing I’ll be in Cabo this December and Jamaica in May keeps my spirits high, even during busy school days.
But the joy doesn’t end with anticipation. Traveling with like-minded people—those who share a passion for adventure, faith, and connection—makes the experience even more meaningful. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 speaks to this beautifully:
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.”
Our travel community is filled with laughter, encouragement, and shared memories. It’s not just about the destination; it’s about who you experience it with.
Spiritual Growth: Seeing God in Every Journey
Travel brings me closer to God. Standing in awe of His creation—whether it’s a sunrise over the ocean or the stillness of a tropical forest—reminds me of Romans 1:20:
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made.”
Even more, traveling in a Christ-centered community allows us to share faith-filled conversations and encourage one another. Matthew 18:20 reminds us,
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
Some of my most profound spiritual moments have happened while traveling.
Financial Wellness: A Simple Solution for Teachers and Beyond
Here’s where my testimony gets personal. As a teacher, I’ve worked hard to manage my fixed income, but it’s no secret that teaching isn’t the most lucrative career. That’s where our simple travel, share, and earn concept changed everything for me.
The idea is so straightforward that even I—someone who once joked about being “smarter than a fifth grader”—found it a no-brainer. Through our travel club, I’ve created an additional income stream by simply sharing what I love: travel. And because it’s easy to duplicate, anyone—including teachers—can succeed.
This has allowed me to take the trips I love, like Cabo and Jamaica, while also saving money and building financial freedom. Our travel community has truly been a blessing, helping people from all walks of life discover that travel doesn’t have to break the bank—and can even help pay for itself!
