Motivational Monday
It’s Motivational Monday! I hope you are feeling your best today. In today’s post, I am going to ask you an important question. Are Mondays hard for you? Do you find it difficult getting out of bed because you are stuck working a job that drains you more than it sustains you? If you aren’t waking up on Monday morning looking forward to another work week, you’ve got a problem. Surviving until you get to the weekend is not a long-term strategy. You cannot walk through life accepting that five of your seven days will be spent doing a job your hate or at best tolerate.
If you are reading this article and find yourself stuck in a job you hate, you must first ask yourself this question. “Why am I here? Maybe your answer is, “It’s easy. Or maybe “It’s comfortable.” Or perhaps, you’re saying to yourself, “It pays well.” Regardless of what’s keeping you stuck in a job you loathe, it’s crucial to understand that you are doing a disservice to both the organization you’re working for and for yourself if you are just along for the ride. I can’t imagine anything worse than having to spend the majority of my time doing something I hate. If you find yourself in this predicament, let me suggest three steps you need to take to begin re-writing your Monday story.
Step One-Pray First
I know it seems simplistic, but I don’t have a better suggestion. The one who designed you has to be the one who can define you. God created us on purpose for a purpose, and it’s for something bigger than just surviving to pay bills. Seek the Lord with all your heart and begin asking him to give you vision and clarity.
Step Two-Seek Counsel from Wise People
If you find yourself battling the Monday doldrums, seek out someone you know who seems to love what he/she is doing. Go have lunch or grab a cup of coffee with them. Find out why they seem so passionate about their life and calling. Listen first and then ask lots of questions.
Step Three-Consider the Possibilities
When life makes us uncomfortable, it’s most likely because God is trying to get our attention. P.T. Barnum once said, ‘Comfort is the enemy of progress.” The sad reality is that many people are not living the life that God intended them to live. When a recent Gallup poll reveals that 85 percent of people hate their job, that’s a huge problem. Why do 85 percent of people continue to work in jobs they hate? It’s this one word: comfort. The problem with comfort is that it can mislead us into believing that the best we have is all that is available, so we settle for mediocrity. Isn’t it time to consider that maybe God has something for you that is better than what you currently have?
I hope you got value from this post. If so, I would appreciate your LIKES, COMMENTS, and SHARES. I love Mondays, and I want you to love your Mondays, too. If I can do anything for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
God bless!
Bill
