CBG needs to be on your Cannabinoid radar and here’s why!

Have you heard of CBG? As you know, the industry has been buzzing over the past couple of years with the recent CBD boom. CBD has become commonplace. You don’t have to travel too far to find a CBD store on the corner or a CBD product taking up shelf space everywhere from gas stations to wellness stores.

It is predicted that CBD will grow to a 22 billion dollar industry by 2022, so companies are working hard to educate the public about CBD’s benefits. There is much to learn about the Endocannabinoid System and how keeping it in sync with cannabinoids can be an alternative approach to health and wellness.

Recently, a new player has entered the marketplace. CBG is on the horizon and has been deemed the Rolls Royce of Cannabinoids. CBG is Cannabigerol and is a unique cannabinoid.

CBD Versus CBG

CBG and CBD are both non-intoxicating cannabinoids. In other words, they won’t make you high. They both interact with the same receptors in the body and appear to offer anti-inflammatory benefits. CBG functions differently than CBD and offers many health benefits. There’s been a lot of studies on CBD, but not as much on CBG. With CBG becoming more popular, you can expect more reviews.

What are the potential benefits?

While the research on CBG is just beginning, studies suggest that it may offer many benefits. Those possible benefits include pain relief, muscle relaxation, and relief from anxiety and depression. CBG also has demonstrated antibacterial, antifungal, and antimicrobial properties. It may also improve skin and bone health and help manage some conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease and overactive bladder. There’s some evidence that CBG’s beneficial effects combined with CBD may be magnified when taken together instead of in isolation. This phenomenon is called the “entourage effect.”

Check for third-party testing.

Companies that produce CBG products should have their products tested by an independent lab. Before you buy CBG, find out whether the company’s products are third-party tested, and be sure to read the lab report, which should be available on their website or via email.

The bottom line

CBG is rapidly emerging as another cannabinoid offering the medicinal appeal of cannabis without intoxicating effects. CBD is finding its way everywhere. Even after the hype subsides and the conversations become more nuanced, CBD and CBG are likely to remain a staple of the health and wellness industry.
