Provide a Service / Freelancing

If you are looking for ways to earn some extra income from home, you are going to LOVE these next few posts. I hope you had a chance to check out Five Best Ways to Make Money from Home: Part One.

In today’s post, we will examine how you can take skills you already have and turn them into instant profit.

Chances are you already have a skill that others will pay you for. There is something YOU do well that they don’t. There is probably something YOU enjoy doing that others don’t have time to do themselves. More and more businesses and entrepreneurs are hiring freelancers and virtual assistants these days than ever before.

It’s much easier and requires less overhead than hiring full-time employees.

WHAT CAN YOU GET PAID TO DO?

  • Customer Support
  • Technical Support
  • Web Design
  • Writing/Blogging/Copywriting
  • Graphic design
  • Video editing
  • Proofreading
  • Web Development
  • Virtual Assistance
  • Internet Marketing

These are just a few options, and if you need money quickly, you can be performing one of these services within the next week for a client who will pay you for your skills. It’s easier than ever to get started.

Sites like Fiverr, Upwork, TopTal, and Simply Hired are great places to start. The best part is that it’s as simple as creating a profile on one of these sites and applying or submitting proposals for jobs.

Of course, you can market your skills on your own through social media sites like LinkedIn or Facebook, or even your own website to find your own clients! You can provide services either part-time and even turn it into a full-time career! And it sure beats driving people around for Uber or Lyft, delivering food for DoorDash, or delivering groceries via Instacart or Shipt.

THE PROS & CONS OF BEING A SERVICE PROVIDER

PROS

  • You Get Paid to Do What You’re Good At or Love Doing
  • You Can Get Started Quickly
  • Work from Home
  • Create your Own Hours Around YOUR Schedule
  • Quickly Increase Your Fees as You Build Your Reputation!

CONS

  • It Takes Time to Build your Reputation
  • You’ll Have to Deal with Some Difficult Clients.
  • There Are Strict Deadlines
  • You’ll Be Hustling for Gigs (especially in the beginning!)
  • You’re Trading Your Time for Money

Utilizing your skill sets to provide value in the market is a great way to get started in your entrepreneurial journey. It can be significantly helpful for people who find themselves in a continual cycle of having more month than money. The biggest negative to being a service provider is, as I stated before, is that it’s still trading time for dollars. Being a solution provider is an excellent short-term option. Still, there are definitely better avenues for building a home business that can allow you to create long-term, residual income. More to come about that in a later post. For now, you’re off and running on how to leverage your niche to earn some extra cash today.
