Let’s dive into the final post. These are solutions you can implement today to start losing weight and keep it off for good!
#7 Move Your Body
You don’t need to be a bodybuilder, spend countless hours in the gym, or run marathons to start losing weight. But that doesn’t mean you should lead a sedentary lifestyle either! Your body, bones, blood, muscles, and psyche NEED movement. Going for a twenty or thirty-minute walk each day will increase your resting metabolic rate, especially if you walk in the evening as most people’s metabolism slows down around sunset. Being active is critical to losing weight and keeping it off and will help burn the calories you simply can’t burn through diet alone. A simple 20-minute walk around the block will transform your body and health and could help you burn fat twice as fast!
#8 Get Quality Rest
There’s a lot of controversy over the eight hours of sleep we once thought we needed each night. Whether you get seven or eight hours of sleep, tons of research does support the benefits of giving your body proper rest and recovery. Lack of adequate sleep for your body has been shown to actually slow down your metabolism! Don’t drink coffee or caffeinated drinks right before bed. You could even test out an herbal tea at night with chamomile, lavender, or valerian root to relax your mind, calm your nervous system, and gently fall asleep easier. #9 Limit Your Alcohol Intake
Alcohol is loaded with sugar and empty calories with no nutritious value. Drinking a few glasses of wine, beer, or spirits each night can quickly lead to rapid weight gain (not to mention it will negatively impact the quality of sleep you get). Alcohol lowers your vibration as well, and over time can cause serious health problems to your liver and other vital organs. I am not saying you cut out alcohol entirely and never drink again when you’re out with friends or at home with a nice meal. But consciously think twice before you grab that drink at the end of each night. If you’re a heavy drinker, start by cutting the alcoholic beverage to 1-2 nights per week max.
#10 Treat Yourself, Enjoy the Process, AND Commit to a Lifestyle Change
Have FUN with this process, and don’t beat yourself up too much as you go down this path. YES, you are allowed to treat yourself and indulge every now and again in the foods that make YOU happy. Many suggest a cheat meal or even a cheat day, but it might be easiest to simply allow a few hundred calories or so per day of the mouth-watering comfort food you love to help stay the course and reward yourself along the way.
And remember, this is a long-term lifestyle change that will require your total commitment. Do your best as you apply these 10 tips to healthily shed weight fast, and enjoy becoming the most excellent version of yourself both inside and out.
